A scroll-driven Mughal miniature. Hand-drawn characters, painted borders, a story you fall through.
A web-native scroll film built in the visual language of Mughal miniature painting. Three hand-drawn characters move through a painted world bordered with traditional motifs. The narrative unfolds as the reader scrolls — the page is the camera.
Studied Mughal miniature painting before drawing a single line — the flattened perspective, the layered storytelling within a single frame, the way borders carry as much meaning as the central image.
Designed the characters as silhouettes first. They had to read at a glance, at any size, in any moment of the scroll.
Built the experience as a long HTML scroll film. Each section is a scene; scroll becomes time. Pace is everything — too fast and the painting becomes a slideshow, too slow and the reader leaves.
The border isn't decoration. It's the proscenium — the thing that tells you you're watching a play.
